About the Artist

I am an artist who was born in Portugal and raised in Texas with a lifetime love of art and nature. My love of both leads to creations of unique designs and colors that capture the harmony, peace and vibrant life I feel outdoors. My paintings invite you to feel shared emotions by abstracting natural forms; participating in an experience with flowers, animals and natural forms. I accomplish this by eliminating distracting details so you focus on the essence of a form's life force. Harmonious colors, overlapping layers of colors, energetic marks and a complex arrangement of hard and soft edges inlaid in smooth or textured areas often create an elegant interpretation of nature. I often experiment with synthesizing abstraction and realism to learn new ways to apply a sophisticated palette of colors with unique textures to further elicit a feeling or cherished memory. My art gives me joy when I am told about an aesthetic pleasure the viewer experienced, giving additional meaning and purpose to being an artist.
